I am content
All that is with me, that surrounds me in this very moment, allows me to feel content. All that I need is here with me right now.
I breathe and know that Spirit is within, presenting me with the glorious gift of knowing I am enough. I have all that I need, and I am enough.

A Contemplation on Contentment
The subtleties of contentment
What is it about contentment?
Is this a word or state of being that you’ve considered before?
Do you ever say to yourself…”I feel so content in this very moment…” and then follow those words with a deep, happy, satisfied sigh…breathing your full contentment out to the world for the grass, trees, butterflies, and bees to acknowledge and take with them for inspiration, for sharing with all other sentient beings?
Content…such a deep word or experience, yet how it feels on the inside can be quite subtle…if you don’t often notice or track your own self-satisfaction or moments of contentment.
I am content…this can be such a fleeting feeling, with internal sensations ranging from unnoticeable, if you’re out of “awareness practice,” to joyfully fulfilling if you’ve chosen to notice and acknowledge the moments when you are content.
Feeling content and grateful can oftentimes go hand in hand (and I touch on their relationship here), and perhaps it’s a worthy cause or personal choice, to commit to cultivating your awareness to notice…when you feel one…you also feel the other. And to begin to make a dedicated practice out of knowing what allows you to feel content and grateful…in all their subtle and obvious ways.
Subtle…quiet sensations felt from inside.
Obvious…carrying out daily activities that you know will invoke your ability to feel, experience contentment and gratitude.
Choosing contentment
Say the following words to yourself…
I have all I need…I am enough…everything I need already exists inside and outside my mind, body, and spirit.
I can choose to see, feel, and know that this statement is true - or - I can refuse to see, feel, and know this statement is true.
When I see, feel, and know something to be true for myself, I step into a state of being that allows my soul to feel content…to know that all is right in my world…to breathe fully, with ease…to expand with and into the world that exists around me…in both my physical body and physical environment…right now, in this very moment.
Putting the subtle and chosen together
Have a look at the list above. Study each column.
Notice the box that states - temporary versus lifestyle.
All of our feelings are temporary, even feelings of contentment.
However, we can also see the feelings and corresponding sensations of contentment as a choice, or a lifestyle…something more permanent than the fleeting of temporary feelings.
When you have developed your self-awareness in such a way that it becomes quite obvious to you when you feel content, or when you can make a choice on doing or experiencing something that will allow you to feel content, you have then made the decision to live in a state of contentment.
What colors surround you, what do you see, when you feel content?
What physical sensations come alive within you when you feel content?
What simple practices or activities can you do daily to bring about feelings of contentment or gratitude?
When was the last time you felt satisfied? What details can you remember? In your experience, are satisfaction and contentment the same or do they differ…in what ways…how?
Study the handwritten notes above. Compare and contrast the temporary feeling of contentment and the choice to upgrade your awareness of living in a state of contentment…even if it’s just for a few moments each day, week, or month!
