mindful
in, out
of breath and thought
release, release
again, again
of breath and thought
connect, flow
release, connect
flow, release,
again, again, again

I am mindful

Listen. Listen. Quietly Listen. I breathe in. Expanding arms, lungs, heart. I breathe out. I let go. And, breathe in again, and out again.

I bring an awareness to my body and how it is connected to the Earth. I experience myself in the Universe right now, in this moment. I breathe. I move. I mindfully quiet the mind.

A Contemplation on Being Alive

Laser focused or softly holding…

The mind is magnificent in that it can hone in on exactly what you need in order to bring about…peace, serenity, silence, stillness, energetic shifts, order, a home, a move, new work, love…what you need now, tomorrow.

To be mindful means you look, you pay attention, you gather up your soul on the inside and allow it to move through the currents of blood, bones, chakras…physical and energetic systems within that work with you to center, ground, manifest…be.

You may find you are intensely mindful or softly mindful.

Perhaps you are capable of quick laser focus, seeing concretely in a way that allows you to connect to the liminal time and space that is mindfulness…the here and now.

Or maybe you have trained your physical body, breath, and internal systems of muscles, joints, and energy centers, to soften upon the invitation of breath in order to connect to the liminal time and space of mindfulness…the present.

No matter the method, entering states of mindful moments where you can be one with the Creator, God, pneuma, breath, silence…your Self…these moments are of immense benefit to you, your loved ones, all creatures you encounter daily, the entire vibration of the world…the collective.

Is one better than the other…laser focus or softly existing in the present? I don’t know, is one better? Is there a middle road, grey-space, or a need for both methods of mindfulness in your life?

What does mindfulness mean to you?

How do you define mindful, mindfulness?

Softly gazing or closing your eyes…

  • Capture a picture, in your mind, of yourself in a completely mindful, present state…

  • What do you notice in this image?

  • Where are you? What are you wearing?

  • What do you see, smell, hear, taste? What is your body touching?

  • Describe the quality of the atmosphere and energy that surrounds you in your mindful state.

  • How can you bring this soft, quiet mindful experience and energy into parts of your day, every day?

Benefits of becoming and being mindful

  • Quieting the noise, chatter, confusion, doubt, fear, anxious energy…

  • Heightening awareness of self in surroundings, physical body sensations, immediate needs…

  • Connection to children, companions, loved ones

  • Connection to Mother Nature, God

  • Enlivened spirit

  • Harnessed ability to see what you need, want, desire…to manifest from and for your highest good and the highest good of all

  • Knowing if you are hungry, angry, anxious, lonely, tired, sad, and what you need to do in those moments to best take care of yourself

Releasing perfection, obsession, distraction

There are times when we desire to be in the present, to be mindful or more mindful. But then we find ourselves unable to commit to the practice because we are obsessed on the x, y, z conditions that “ought” to be met before we take up the practice…or we think perfection is necessary, that our current of thoughts (the internal) or our lives (the external) are too busy to sit quietly focused.

However, these are the exact reasons it is important to sit quietly and focus…in the present moment…steadily present with breath and body, allowing the mind to flow…to and fro…

There is no perfection in mindfulness, meditation, a yoga practice, parenting, friendship…life.

To obsess on the particulars of a practice, the things you believe need to occur in order to begin your practice of mindfulness, breath awareness, meditation…this is resistance in disguise.
