The Present is Now...Here's How to Enjoy It!
What gift have you received and truly loved? And what about this present moment? Are you in love with the moment you find yourself in right now?
Hi, there! How are you?
No…really…How are you right now?!
Can you name your emotion or feeling and describe where you feel it in your body?
If you can, wonderful…you are present in this moment!
If not?!
You may like to take a breath, soften your eyes, notice the sounds that surround you…smell, touch or taste something and ask yourself…
How am I feeling? What am I feeling?
Why does this matter?!
Most people, most of the time, are…
too busy to pause and smell the flowers, too busy to pause and experience life as it’s unfolding around them in the moment
numb, in mind and body, to their emotions, sensations…unable to feel, which means they are unable to know what they need to do next
on the hamster wheel, allowing one day to chaotically blend into the next, with little joy, peace, love to flood in and bless them with the divinity and goodness that is available to them right now
afraid of silence and stillness…divine tools for unlocking the gift of the present moment
(Any of this sounding familiar?)
And so…why does the ability to express how and what you are feeling in any given moment really matter?
Because when you know what you feel, how you feel…you know how to proceed in the next moment in order to…
achieve your dreams
connect to your desires
free yourself from limiting beliefs
make deep, transformational changes in your life
live freely, openly, abundantly, as the Spirit God intended you to be - the Spirit you agreed to becoming - before you landed here on earth in your Mother’s womb
The Goal of Being Present
Training your mind and body to be present means you will accept…
all emotions and feelings as temporary and transient…so you can move through life with ease, grace, peace, love
that time is what you make of it…so you realize the divine gift that is the present
the discomfort that comes with being silent and still…so you know who you are in essence, in Spirit, and you can attain all that is meant for you during this lifetime
You accept and train yourself to intuitively know…
awareness and movement of
emotion, thought, body
are the keys to your transformation
from being stuck in the past or
fearful of the future…
into being your divine self in the present
What is going on over here?!
I keep falling back into old habits and patterns…scattered, disorganized, fearful, anxious, lacking a daily plan.
This is happening right now because we are on summer break, so the patterns that were in place during the school year are gone…and new “summertime” patterns need to be instilled.
Without healthy patterns and habits in place, days zip by…one day, chaotic and scary and numb, falling into the next, and before I know it, summer will be a thing of the past and I’ll have stepped into a new "present" which will again consist of hamster-wheel school days, ballet, homework, errands, and so on (if I let it).
And the worst part…without intention, movement, awareness, stillness, silence, an openness to live in the present…I will have allowed one more of the 18 summers with my daughter to have passed away…quickly…like the mists of clouds and sun rays in a sunset…fading…vanishing…evaporating into the past, without regard for the present, with anxiety over the future.
Building strong habits
that can carry over from
one present moment to the next
are what will sustain you
in all moments moving forward.
Habits that include…
movement
mindset checks
time for beauty and wonder
prayer
meditation
anything that can settle you into the goodness and glory of the NOW
Habits that support your ability to look into the eyes of those you choose to surround yourself with and anchor you in to the ability to really listen, be engaged, share joy…
These are the life-sustaining, life-transforming habits your soul desires.
Not the habits of flooding yourself with noise, music, podcasts, scrolling, incessant and uninspiring chatter of the mind and others around you.
Not the habits of numbing, chaos, business, clutter, lack…
Allowing for Presence…take time each day to…
pause. breathe. tune in.
sit still. sit silent.
connect to awareness.
attend. ask. accept.
move mind and body in the essence of now.
enjoy.
Final thoughts…
Let's revisit those opening questions again…but first, pause…soften or close your eyes…breathe, slowly, deeply…release…and know…
What gift have I received and truly loved?
And what about this present moment?
Am I in love with the moment I find myself in right now?
How am I?
No…really…How am I right now?!
What is the name of my current emotion or feeling and where do I feel it in my body?
