An Act of Creation: Exploring Elements. Making Meaning. Finding Wonder.
When we moved from North Carolina to Florida in the summer of 2022, I had packed a journal that held notes, mementos…and a little bit of money, that my grandpa gave to my daughter, via my parents after his passing the previous Christmas.
That journal went missing, lost among other packed things we hadn’t looked at or through in almost three years. I knew it had to be somewhere, because I would never throw away a journal…but…it had been lost for quite some time.
Last week1, when I was cleaning out the laundry room for a new washer and dryer delivery, I went through a bag that held baby clothes and blankets, the green pillow cases my mom made for me, and…a one-gallon ziplock bag with a black Moleskin. Could it be?!
Sitting down, I pulled apart the plastic zip-lock, and took the journal in my hands. Opening it carefully so nothing would fall out, I saw the drawing, made in pastels, on the first page - the title of a future book I want to write. There were a few handwritten poems and several pages filled with notes, ideas for creating my business and contemplations on life.
Then came the loose stack of cards from my husband and daughter, drawings she made from Montessori school and Kindergarten, letters from her tiny friends, thank you notes from former yoga students…and yes…a second ziplock bag, snack-sized, with grandpa’s money! I gasped, and as I smiled, three additional and unexpected brand new $20 bills fell into my lap!
“How wonderful!” I exclaimed to myself.
An Act of Creation
This leads me to what was happening in my mind the night before and morning of the day I found the lost Moleskin and money!

I had seen this Instagram reel before, and it popped up again recently. So, with a slightly altered intention from what he has shared in the video, I fell asleep and woke up with the following phrases:
Falling to sleep: “Something wonderful will happen for me tomorrow!”
Upon waking: “Something wonderful will happen for me today!”
I’m not sure who this man is, but he shares a common mindset practice from the manifestation ~ Law of Attraction teachers which also echos Biblical teachings on fear/faith, prayer, and manifestation such as “Do not be afraid…” from Isaiah, Luke and Joshua, and “So I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” (Mark 11:24)
Manifestation and attraction principles or teachings are nice, but you’ll find specific pieces are required of us in order for manifestations of any form to occur…and these pieces are related to our feeling and sensations along with momentum and action.
We must play our part ~ steady and right our minds, act and create ~ in order for attraction and manifestation (the wonderful!)
to appear in our lives.
Exploring Elements ~ through poetry
The following poem was one from the lost then found journal. Inspired by the four elements ~ earth, air, water, and fire.
Why share about the elements here?
For one, because this is a piece of work I created when I was feeling quite connected to the nature that surround me in North Carolina, after having lived there for almost a year.
Second, it serves as a reminder that we are made of the same ingredients as the moon, the stars, the sun, the sea. God created all in his likeness…thus we are equally equipped to create all we can imagine…if only we…
release fear and accept faith
release mindless, chaotic noise and pursue prayer (through embodied connection and action)
embrace our God-given nature as creation and creator

When I move, I bring the world to my body. It rests firmly under my feet, supporting all that I do and all that I am.
When I breathe, I inhale the air that gives life to all beings, all souls, all eternity.
The earth and air are me. I am alive because they exist.
When I cry, I release water. A salty, flowing creek runs down my cheek like a river flowing to the sea. The sea, the water that surrounds our world and fills our bodies.
When I love, the passion within and the passion I give are like flames from the fire at the core of the earth. The core of my body, my heart, is on fire with love for you. My eyes light up at the sight of your face. My soul lights a fire for you, so you can always find me…to help light your way.
My life. Your life. We are all one…made of the same elements. The elements of creation. Of eternity. We are…
Self-Guided Workshop: Making Meaning. Finding Wonder.
Gather some items…materials for writing, journaling, collaging, drawing, painting.
Find a quiet, still, safe place to be for a little while.
Center your body and mind through:
giving attention to the ground that is doing some of the work of holding you and
the expansion and contraction occurring inside your body as you breathe, slowly inhaling and exhaling.
Play the audio of the poem above (2 minutes).
Go through the prompts below. Choose the ones you’d like to answer for yourself. Create with what comes to mind…no overthinking or judgement…just creation.
Enjoy!

Defining Wonder
How do I define wonderful?
How do I define wonder?
If something wonderful could happen for me today…what might that be? How would I find that wonderful thing…how would I know it arrived?
Is my self awareness developed, cultivated enough so that I can find the wonderful in each day? If not, what can I do to become more self aware…such as quiet the noise and chaos that surrounds me, center myself in movement, meditation, prayer…
Final thoughts…
Thanks so much for being here! I look forward to bringing you more poetry, meditations, self-guided workshops, offerings that bring you peace and lead you to find the wonderful in each day!
